There is something that has changed in that business. Posted 07:52 (#1548114 - in reply to #1548076) Subject: Re: Anybody fill your own forklift propane tanks? I'm going to call them this morning & see what I can find out. My forklift tank looks like the tanks shown for lift trucks. I'm using the tank to hose adapter shown currently for my gas grill.

I think I have the 1 3/4' adapter but not sure I have to go & look. Posted 07:35 (#1548090 - in reply to #1548074) Subject: Re: Anybody fill your own forklift propane tanks? That's why I kind of hesitated to even post this, I hope I don't get caught :- (. He said something about some propane agency (I can't remember who he said ) is really cracking down on people filling their own tanks. I get my propane fro two different suppliers & I already asked the one yesterday about getting me one & he wasn't to keen on even getting me one. The price per gallon will be exponentially higher by the tank. Is your tank 1 1/4" or 1 3/4" acme fitting? Your propane provider should be able to sell you a hose with proper fittings, but you must have a liquid draw on supply tank. We have been doing it before I was around. Posted 23:04 (#1547757 - in reply to #1547746) Subject: Re: Anybody fill your own forklift propane tanks? very easy to fill, same as regular cylinders. Our propane ma set us up with a fitting for it. Posted 23:03 (#1547750 - in reply to #1547746) Subject: RE: Anybody fill your own forklift propane tanks? I'm not even sure who refill these tanks. I have no idea how much a forklift burns an hour, but I'm sure a tank will last me a long time. Yes I'm sure it's safer to have it filled for me but I just like the convenience of doing my own bottle filling. Can I buy an adaptor for these or should I just go & pay retail for a refill. I got my used forklift a couple weeks ago & was going to refill its propane bottle today but was disappointed to see it has a different type of fill fitting then for my grill bottles. I'm just careful how I do it & cautious not to over fill them. I've been filling my own gas grill propane bottles for over 15 years now with no problems.
